Fern Close
Frant
KLW received planning permission for the construction of fifteen new homes in Frant, East Sussex.
The homes were sited in a disused paddock field adjoining a newly built scheme of ten homes. The fundamental aim of the design strategy was to create an attractive and distinctive new residential development that contributes positively to the existing character of Frant, respecting its history and cultural heritage as identified in the Frant Conservation Area Designation Report.
The topography of the site and the natural fall away from the village within the range of two to four metres (east to west) provided an opportunity to carefully assimilate new homes into the slope so that the buildings sit well below the level of the road and, importantly, the established skyline of the village and Conservation Area.
Reflecting the building traditions and architectural detailing of the Abergavenny Family and the adjoining Nevill Estate, the houses have been completed and have been well received by the local community.
